Emerging from Bristol’s underground scene is the trio Jabu. Soft and Gatherable Star (2024) is the band’s third and most recent work, which has established itself as one of the most exciting projects in the United Kingdom.
This self-released album combines different worlds: from trip-hop, dub and Bristol electronica to the classic dream-pop of the Cocteau Twins, shoegaze and even atmospheric folk. Channelling insomnia, A Soft and Gatherable Star echoes through ten songs filled with heartbreak, longing and fragmented memories. It is, therefore, the perfect album to listen to at a late afternoon concert, especially with a larger ensemble.
