Supracasa is inspired by Sebastião Alba, a poet from Braga who spent part of his life in Mozambique and lived his last years as a homeless man on the streets of the city that saw him born. The expression ‘supracasa’ is a metaphor used by the poet to describe an imaginary space, a place that transcends the physical world. For Sebastião Alba, poetry was his supracasa: a spiritual refuge where art manifested itself.

Emerging from this place of infinite possibilities, Supracasa was created with the aim of supporting artistic creation in the performing arts and providing a platform for its dissemination. In 2024, the first edition will offer artistic residencies – refuges for creation, contemplation and reflection – to five artists/companies from or based in the region. The works created will be presented to the public throughout 2025, fulfilling rituals of sharing and imagination between artists and spectators

The Supracasa programme will have a second edition in 2025-2026, with a national open call that will select three projects for support.
