The Braga 25 Portuguese Capital of Culture Volunteer Programme received 186 applications from people of different ages.

The most represented age group is young people aged 18 to 25 (49 applicants), but there are also teenagers (15-17, 20 applicants) and adults of all ages, including 15 applicants aged between 66 and 75.

All the volunteers went through a recruitment process which included a group interview, an initial training session and a specific training session. The specific training sessions took place between 18 and 21 November.

Four job profiles were defined for Braga 25 volunteers: Communicators, Producers, Assistants and Volunteer Coordinators.

This volunteer programme came about as a way of involving the community that is not part of the cultural and artistic sector. The aim is to integrate all those who want to be part of this title through different volunteering opportunities that promote active citizenship, help to emancipate citizens and provide a variety of individual and collective empowerment experiences.

This programme is the result of close collaboration between the Braga 25 Mission Team (Faz Cultura – Empresa Municipal de Cultura de Braga, E.M and the Municipality of Braga) and the Municipal Volunteering Structure – Braga Voluntária.
