Theatro Circo opens its doors to the people of Braga in the late afternoon, inviting the population and the region’s cultural agents to get to know the full cultural agenda for the first three months of the year in which Braga is the Portuguese Capital of Culture.
Braga 25 invites the people of Braga to get to know the programme of the Portuguese Capital of Culture first hand. At a public session scheduled for next Monday 13th (17:00, at Theatro Circo), the city will be shown the initiative’s full Opening Programme, as well as the agenda for the first quarter of the year.
Braga 25 is run under the motto ‘Open your door’ and is organised in quarters, renewing the challenge to participate in the Portuguese Capital of Culture every three months. At the start of the initiative, the invitation is clear: ‘Open your door and let us in’.
In January, February and March 2025, Braga 25 will promote around 80 events, which will be presented in detail at a Public Session next Monday at Theatro Circo. On the same occasion, the new website for the Portuguese Capital of Culture (braga25.pt) will also be unveiled, where the programme of shows and other initiatives will be permanently available.
Braga officially assumes the title of Portuguese Capital of Culture 2025 on 25 January, with an opening programme that extends throughout the day, anticipating the diversity of artistic proposals that will be presented throughout the year.
As well as a major multidisciplinary show on Avenida Central (9pm) that will culminate the day, featuring Mariza, Dino d’Santiago, iolanda, Margarida Vila-Nova and various cultural groups from Braga, there are other initiatives throughout the day, including shows commissioned by Braga 25, workshops and street entertainment. This line-up will also be presented next Monday. The Theatro Circo will be open from 17:00.
