Using archival material from various visual and sound sources, this striking documentary by Rui Simões depicts the social and political turmoil during the PREC – the Ongoing Revolutionary Process – from 25 April 1974 to 25 November of the following year.

Bom Povo Português, together with Deus Pátria Autoridade (1975) by the same director, forms an essential diptych in Portuguese cinema, portraying the transition from a fascist regime to democracy through the utopian vision of a revolutionary process in which the people played a leading role. This screening is part of the parallel programme of the exhibition “Carnation Revolution – 50 Years of Freedom”.

The session is free of charge, but tickets must be collected at gnration’s ticket office. Tickets can be collected from 8pm on the same day.

Cinema Sessions in Revolution is included in the parallel programme of “Carnation Revolution – 50 Years of Freedom”, as part of Braga 25 – Portuguese Capital of Culture. Curatorial Project: Paulo Mendes. Screening presented by director Rui Simões.
