Marco da Silva Ferreira cemented his place as the undisputed creator of contemporary Portuguese dance with Carcaça, a fundamental show that he is now presenting at Theatro Circo.
A cast of 10 performers form a body that researches its collective identity. They use familiar footwork from clubbing, ballroom and cyphers battles, as well as dance studios, to approach standardised and unchanging folk dances related to their memory/ heritage. Carcaça proposes an integral exercise of past and present.
