Naquele Dia em Lisboa, a film by Daniel Blaufuks, is a photograph expanded in time, from discarded films in 1940 by the director of photography, Eugen Schüfftan, who later won an Oscar. The narration is by Bruno Ganz, who recounts the passage of refugees through the Portuguese capital.
Matthew Herbert’s music dialogues with the images and time of Daniel Blaufuks’ narrative. This is a unique show at Theatro Circo, in an expanded encounter between cinema and music and music and image.
