Bells, cavaquinho and viola braguesa are part of Braga’s sound heritage. It is these elements that the New Echoes of a Soundscape project aims to explore, in collaborative creations that open up horizons about the place that each of these iconic elements can occupy.
The aim of the entire programme is to disconnect these instruments from their traditional uses, involving musicians and students in moments of sound exploration and musical composition, which will culminate in a programme of concerts that are simultaneously visits to Braga’s historic bell factory, founded in 1932 and one of the country’s most respected in this field.
