The Supracasa programme is opening a new call for proposals

Part of the Braga 25 – Portuguese Capital of Culture, Supracasa is a programme to encourage the creation and dissemination of the performing arts.

This initiative is inspired by Sebastião Alba, a Braga-born poet who spent part of his life in Mozambique and lived his last years as a homeless man on the streets of the city that saw him born. The expression “supracasa” was a metaphor used by the poet to describe an imaginary space, a place that transcends the physical world. For Sebastião Alba, poetry was his supracasa: a spiritual refuge where art manifested itself.

After a first edition in 2024, which offered artistic residencies to five artists or companies from the region, the program returns in 2025 with a nationwide open call, broadening its scope and reinforcing its commitment to new creation. The call will be open from February 12 to March 12, 2025, and the regulations, as well as the application form, will be available on the Braga 25 website from February 12.

With total funding of €39,000, this support is aimed at emerging artists up to the age of 35, born or resident in Portugal. Three performing arts projects will be selected – two aimed at the general public and one at children and young people – covering the disciplines of Theater, Dance and Disciplinary Crossing. The artistic residencies should take place throughout 2025, culminating in the public presentation of the work in 2026.

The selection will be made by a jury made up of Mickaël de Oliveira (playwright, director, programmer and artistic co-director of Coletivo84), Laura Lopes (performing arts programmer at Teatro do Bairro Alto) and Maria Inês Marques and Sara Borges, representing the Theatro Circo team.

Don’t miss the opportunity to take part in this call for proposals from February 12, using the rules and forms that will be available on Braga 25’s website and social networks.
