The 9th edition of Braga em Risco, organised by the Municipality of Braga, closed its doors with a largely positive outcome, registering a record of more than 7500 visitors. The focus on concentrating the event in a single space, the Tibães Monastery, allowed for an immersive and cohesive experience, guaranteeing greater proximity between artists, the public and the works.
With a diversified programme that included 68 workshops and more than 60 activities, such as exhibitions, book presentations and shows, markets and masterclasses, this year’s edition stood out for the presence of renowned authors and for the growing adherence of adult audiences.
But Braga em Risco’s journey doesn’t end in Braga. After a remarkable edition, the team headed to the Bologna Book Fair, the most prestigious international children’s and young adult literature event, which has been running for over 60 years. The 62nd edition of the fair, which runs from 31 March to 3 April, brings together around 1,500 exhibitors from 90 countries and regions around the world.
Braga em Risco’s participation in this global platform marks a significant step forward in its internationalisation strategy, establishing links with the global publishing industry. The event is represented on Portugal’s collective stand, along with various Portuguese publishers and agents, promoting the visibility of national illustration across borders. As well as solidifying partnerships and expanding opportunities for its artists, this presence reinforces the event’s projection worldwide and prepares the ground for an even more ambitious 10th edition.
