Braga 25 began to take shape in 2018, with the development of the cultural strategy Braga Cultura 2030.
We spoke with artists, cultural agents, associations, traders, anonymous citizens and people from Braga working across many fields, and we organised activities designed to involve the community.
That work resulted in a guiding document for a decade of action, with the ambition of transforming the city’s cultural landscape. It was on the basis of this process — and the same collaborative methodology — that the bid for European Capital of Culture 2027 was built.
Braga was one of the finalist cities and was awarded the title of Portuguese Capital of Culture 2025.
