B25

Mediation Programme

The Braga 25 Mediation Programme fostered engagement with diverse audiences through a wide range of participatory initiatives, encouraging active involvement, proximity, and the development of lasting relationships with culture.

Developed over a long-term process initiated in 2021 within the framework of Braga’s bid for European Capital of Culture, the programme focused on identifying and cultivating new cultural audiences, while also strengthening existing ones. It implemented continuous strategies of participation, listening, and mediation, grounded in sustained dialogue with the community.

Throughout its trajectory, the programme included initiatives such as Geração B25+, an advisory body composed of approximately thirty young people; Trocado por miúdos, dedicated to cultural and artistic literacy among children and teachers; and Portas de Entrada, a set of audience engagement actions structured around four thematic axes: Door of Doing, Door of Remembering, Door of Caring, and Door of Eating.

The programme also featured the B25 Guided Tours, offering city tours led by unconventional guides; the installation-game Wishwall; and the Braga 25 Volunteer Programme, which involved citizens in the implementation and support of Portuguese Capital of Culture activities.

Mediation and Participation: Cláudia Cibrão (Coordination), Carolina Cardoso (Production and Mediation), and Natacha Correia (Production and External Relations)
