Carnation Revolution – 50 Years of Freedom

Carnation Revolution – 50 Years of Freedom is a contemporary art exhibition project about the 50th anniversary of the 25 April 1974 Revolution, which marked Portugal’s transition from a dictatorial regime to a democratic one.

This is a transdisciplinary project that will have an immersive character, favouring the performative experience of the visitor as an actor in history, summoning up the collective social, political and cultural memory, both Portuguese and European, from the 1960s to the present day.

The exhibition will take place in various locations around the city – Cavalry Regiment No. 6, Nogueira da Silva Museum or Forum Arte Braga – showing documentary films, photographic archives, books, posters, which will be linked to new artistic creations and historical works from important institutional collections of contemporary art.
