B25

A Year in Braga 25 Compiled into a Book

“B25”: A Publication Unveiling the Story of Braga as Portuguese Capital of Culture. Book launch takes place on 11 June at Theatro Circo

Braga 25 is preserving the legacy of an extraordinary year of artistic programming in the city through the publication of a new book that brings together photographs and personal reflections from many of those who contributed to the Portuguese Capital of Culture 2025. The publication will be officially launched on 11 June at 6:00 pm at Theatro Circo, in a session open to the public.

Entitled “B25”, the book also lends its name to the legacy initiatives that will continue beyond the Portuguese Capital of Culture programme. Its pages feature photographs from some of the more than 1,300 activities presented throughout the year, alongside 25 testimonies from individuals involved in shaping Braga 25, including artists, cultural practitioners, associations, and citizens from diverse areas of activity and expertise.

The journey towards Braga 25 began in 2018 with the development of the Braga Cultura 2030 cultural strategy. Building on this process and its collaborative methodology, the city subsequently prepared its bid for European Capital of Culture 2027. Braga was shortlisted as a finalist city and was ultimately awarded the title of Portuguese Capital of Culture 2025.

This entire process will also be documented and made publicly accessible through the Braga 25 website. On 11 June, the website will be transformed into a digital repository of the Portuguese Capital of Culture programme, bringing together publications, archival materials, and other resources that will remain freely available to all.

According to Nuno Gouveia, Executive Administrator of Faz Cultura:“Braga 25 leaves the city with a legacy that deserves to be preserved and celebrated. This publication reflects Braga’s ability to affirm its cultural identity, engage its community, and strengthen the bonds that connect its citizens. Our commitment is to ensure that this legacy continues to create new opportunities for culture, contributing to a more dynamic, cohesive, and future-ready city.”

Both the publication and the digital repository were developed by Faz Cultura – Braga Municipal Culture Company, with the graphic design of B25 created by OOF Design Studio
