A landmark of feminism and the building of democracy in Portugal in the 1970s, Novas Cartas Portuguesas (New Portuguese Letters), by Maria Isabel Barreto, Maria Velho da Costa and Maria Teresa Horta, is the starting point for this show, which aims to give a contemporary reinterpretation of the legacy of the three Marias.

The title of the play is in itself a question. Come out and fight? asks playwright Stela Mišković, based on one of the real-life stories she collected for this text: a heroine who endures multiple humiliations, both from her abusers and from those who have an obligation to protect her.

19:00 Talk with Stela Mišković, Lajla Kaikcija, Alícia Widermann and Tatiana Mendes (UMAR Braga), moderated by Ana Gabriela Macedo. Show in Portuguese with English subtitles.
