The director Marco Paiva builds on William Shakespeare’s Richard III in Portuguese and Spanish sign language.
With a cast made up of interpreters from both countries, it centres on the coexistence of sign languages, expanding the work that the Terra Amarela company has been doing on this theme since 2018. The show is subtitled in Portuguese.
The character of Richard III is a real propaganda document, proving that a lie, repeated a thousand times, becomes a timely truth. And this couldn’t be a better mirror of our times.
Direction: Marco Paiva/ Cast: Ângela Ibañez, David Blanco, Marta Sales, Tony Weaver, Maria José Lopez and Vasco Seromenho/ Co-production: Terra Amarela, Centro Dramático Nacional (Madrid), Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, Teatro Nacional São João and Cineteatro Louletano / Show in LGP, with Portuguese subtitles.
We are preparing a year-long celebration of national artistic creation, in connection with Europe and with the artists and cultural agents from Braga.
