More than five years on from his last album, Tashi Wada returns to releases with what is his most vulnerable and introspective work to date.
Written and recorded during a period marked by the death of his father and the birth of his daughter, What is not strange? sees the composer reflecting on the dichotomy between being alive and mortality. Accompanied live by the hypnotic voice of Julia Holter, his companion in life and on stage, Tashi Wada interweaves layers of vocals, synthesiser effects and detailed arrangements, finding a balance between the introspective and the expansive.
We are preparing a year-long celebration of national artistic creation, in connection with Europe and with the artists and cultural agents from Braga.
