Square – Mapping the Atlantic is a programme dedicated to celebrating independent music from the four continents bordering the Atlantic Ocean, contributing to the development of a more diverse, representative, and interconnected music ecosystem. The project fosters dialogue between local scenes and international contexts, encouraging the circulation of artists, ideas, and audiences across the Atlantic space.
Its first edition took place within the framework of Braga 25 – Portuguese Capital of Culture, through a four-day festival held across the cities of Braga, Guimarães, Barcelos, and Vila Nova de Famalicão.
Featuring a programme designed both for the general public and for music industry professionals, Square established itself as a distinctive festival where each selected artist performed in unique venues across each city, exploring different scales of proximity and audience engagement.
Square is a legacy project of Braga 25 – Portuguese Capital of Culture.
