During two periods of artistic residencies in Braga, Emilia Rigová, Hilda de Paulo, Maria Trabulo, Marta Machado and Miguel Teodoro investigated private collections and institutional archives of under-represented communities, with the aim of revealing new histories and representations in the city.
The results of these residencies translated into artistic interventions in five disused kiosks, which were rehabilitated and reactivated as exhibition devices in the public space.
To mark the finissage of this citywide exhibition, we have invited Portuguese-Brazilian curator Bruno de Almeida to the Braga Municipal Archive for a conversation and critical correspondence with the project’s artists. The meeting will be an opportunity to get to know the research processes of each artist within the scope of this project and to reflect on the role of art in the public space.
