Rhythm facilitates the understanding of the first musical notions and, in the Portuguese case, the cultural aspect of the bombo is a fundamental asset that allows for a genuine articulated construction of knowledge.
This has been one of the themes worked on by Rui Rodrigues, drummer, author and trainer, namely in the publications of his books aimed at promoting and publicising the culture of the bombo and Portuguese percussive arts.
These workshops include pedagogical games, rhythmic pattern practice and ensemble work. A starting point for exploring percussive languages that have crossed paths between Africa, Portugal and Brazil.
