Through music and gastronomy, Roda da Tradição is an initiative that brings the community together around the table to celebrate tradition and share stories and customs. At this first meeting, we’ll be talking about the deep connections between polyphonic singing and rural life, with ethnomusicologist Rosário Pestana, members of the polyphonic groups Cantadeiras do Campo do Gerês and Mulheres do Minho and the Associação Canto a Vozes, in a conversation moderated by Armando Sousa; we’ll also be cooking delicacies from Minho’s gastronomic heritage by chef Rui Lemos Sousa, in collaboration with the local community; and we’ll also be listening to traditional music with a performance by the Popular Music Group from the University of Minho.
Admission is free, but pre-registration is recommended to control capacity.
Roda da Tradição is also part of the Braga City Council’s Descentrar cycle, in which, in partnership with TUB – Transportes Urbanos de Braga (Braga Urban Transport), trips are available for 1 euro (return) to Casa dos Carvalhos in Padim da Graça (Line 90 – https://tub.pt/percurso/90/).
